This discussion was the last thing she wanted to have, mostly because there were things that she was not ready to say yet. Things she had not even admitted to herself yet. But there Thea was, standing in front of door she had not thought twice about going through in the last ten to twelve months - since they rekindle, even before they were official. A part of her could not help but feel this would change their relationship forever and even though it was an opportunity to get closer than they ever were, a part of her was convinced it would be the exact opposite. Her hand hanging out in the air, Thea took one last breath and knocked on the door. When Milo's face appeared, for the second time in a few days, she did not feel relief. She felt exactly how she had felt over two years ago, when they parted ways.

Hey she replied, noticing how both their bodies were translating their feelings. She hesitated one second before coming in and went for a quick peck on the cheek before leaving her coat and bag where she always left them. Milo's place felt different and she couldn't avoid looking at the kitchen, remembering their conversation from last night. She slowly shook her head and sighed. "Let's just say I could use a beer." And because she was fighting every urge she had to make things more awkward, she took it upon herself to grab it herself, as well as one for him, even though they felt like she was intruding. "What about you?" It was hard being away from him, but especially in times like this. Whether it concerned its fatherhood (even though he didn't want to speak of it) or its new business, her place would have been by his side without the lies. It was, at the end of the day, what bothered her the most: that she did not know if she could trust him anymore. The baby from someone else, when she knew he did not want one, when she had always wanted a family was easy to fix in comparison: it was just a matter of Thea deciding whether or not she was ok with her choice. Trust... that was never something easy to mend.

A sad smile came across her face when he mentioned he could use two beers. It was hard feeling him this way ; they both knew how they were feeling, they both knew why and there was almost nothing to do. Talking about it would help, or at least she hoped so but she knew she did not know if he was someone she could trust anymore and that’s probably what was hurting the most. Men could not be trusted, she had learnt the lesson several times in her life, always the hard way, but she seemed to keep on forgetting it. Sighting slightly, she put two of her fingers out, close to each other : “I’m actually this close to switching it for tequila shots, but there’s work tomorrow.” Her beer in hand, she followed him to the living room and hesitated a second before sitting on the sofa. She very much wanted to sit across from him, put some distance between then but she did not want to push it too much and risk losing what they had - unless she actually made the decision to. “I’m back at my place but yes, it was nice. I used to spend hours with her every day with her and her brothers back in New York; it was nice to almost be back in those times.” Even if they were also busy now. “How’s the firm going?” It might seem like she was delaying the conversation but the truth was that she was actually interested. She had seen him work day and night to get where he was and she hoped it was even more than he was aiming for. He deserved it.

Things were going about ok until Milo decide to bite first. Thea closed her eyes. She wasn’t even surprised. She knew who she fell in love with and when it came to being bitter, she was unfortunately not better than he was. “Yes, it’s very much fun to toss and turn every night - or day depending on my schedule - and think about the baby you have with another woman, and how you broke my trust.” She took a bit of her beer before adding, with an exaggerated smile : “So much fun!” Not even one second after she had said so, the fake smile has left her face and Thea had moved a bit further from him on the sofa. She took it upon herself to start the conversation normally again; despite what her instinct was telling her - to run as fast and as far away as she could, she really was trying to make their relationship work, even though there was no denying something was broken. “I’m proud of you, you deserve it. I’m sure they’ll come running any time.” She preferred not to know too much about what he was doing but she knew he was good at it and as long as it wasn’t put her (or him) in any sort of anger, she kinda had made peace with the fact that Milo was… Milo. On this part at least. “Sure, I just wanted to know how you were doing.” She sighed. “I don’t know where to start to be honest. I’m hurt, I’m mad, I’m not sure I’ll ever trust you again and I still want to strangle you in your sleep but I also want things to get better.” That about summed it up pretty well.
